The alternate shelter for your best camp experience is another tent. I am talking about a gathering place, a shelter from the weather and a place to eat.
Enter the canopy or screen house.
This is the meeting place. During the day we eat meals here. At night maybe you're not ready for bed yet. In the rain it's a place for shelter. Your campsite will usually have a picnic table included. That's the place for your canopy.
In the most recent months we set up shop under our canopy. As vendors at events you will too.
We had a recent issue with ours. It seems people might trip or not see the tent rope lines. We ran into problems with the tent stakes being not strong enough. Yet no product is perfect.
We added weights to each corner to re-enforce the tent. This proved to be a blessing for us. One time it rained hard and we had to disassemble quick. The next day we set up the canopy on our back deck to dry out.
Well you ain't using tent stakes there, but the weights did the job. The ones with velcro straps that you fill with sand. You will be very happy in the wind with sand bag anchors.
In calm winds when using the weights, you can omit using the rope tie downs in the corners if they are a tripping hazard.
You can get a fancy screen house canopy, but that is not necessary. Always get what you can afford. Choose a path here.
